Sky Lanterns were said to be invented in China and were used as early as the 3^rd century as a signalling balloon during warfare as the light from the sky lantern can be seen from miles around. They gained popularity in Asia and more recently are used for celebrations and special occassions. One popular Thai festival in which sky lanterns or khom loy (in Thai) are used is the famous Loy Krathong festival.

Friends and family can gather around the sky lantern and release it together. Folklore has it that the sky lanterns carry away with them bad spirits and misfortune high into the sky and far away leaving behind only good luck and prosperity for the releasers as problems and worries float away.

Instructions:

1. Attach the fuel cell
2. Open up the sky lantern and gently wave around to fill with air
3. Light the sky lantern fuel cell
4. Wait for the hot air to fill the sky lantern
5. Gather around sky lantern and hold the bamboo frame
6. Release!
